Hi all. New here to the site. I have a 1970 Chevy Camaro. I've had it since 2000. It started out as a street/strip car running hi 13's. I got it progressively faster, eventually getting it to 11.0's on the motor (N/A roller 406 w/ AFR heads). I've drag-raced it at Mason/Dixon, MIR, and VMP.

I started tearing it apart a year ago to give it a complete resto, plus to turn it into a Z06 fighter. It's getting a 6 spd, stiff suspension, C5 brakes, 17" wheels...all the stuff to make it into a fun driving car...that can turn.

I live a few miles from Summit Point Raceway, so I could only listen to those V8 cars going around the track for so long before I got the fever to do that with my car. A day at the dragstip would give me about 44 seconds of racing if I was lucky, while this ought to give me over an hour at any certain track-day.

I'm also a member of a national 2nd gen camaro club (NastyZ28.com), and a pro-touring club (Pro-Touring.com).

I'm looking forward to meeting some local F-body owners at some of the meets.

Welcome to the forum Wayne. That is a pretty nice 2nd gen you have. The video clips do not do it any justice I'm sure. Just what exactly are you doing to the power plant right now?

How did you find out about us, and are you considering joining the club? If not, it's still nice to have a fresh face on the forum and someone else to hang out with at shows.

Thanks. I think I'm going to leave the engine alone for now. I plan on putting in a vintage air a/c unit on the car, but I'm not sure if that big of a cam will work with it. If I do anything, I'll put in a "slightly" smaller cam with a wider centerline (for vacuum) and an Edelbrock Performer RPM Airgap intake (it's got a Super Victor on it now).

If I finish what I have to do on Saturday, I might try and go up to Capon Bridge for the car show, but I'm still not sure. I also know Joel Stevens from here. I see him in at Ameritech once in a while, as I'm good friends with the owner, Newman. Although, I see he hasn't posted in a while.

Wayne,

Welcome! As a member of Nastyz, do you know April? She's also a member of the MD Camaro Club.

See you soon, I hope,

John

Thanks John, and yes, I do know April, and her car Monica. Very nice lady.

You wouldn't happen to know a good friend of mine that lives in Inwood...Jim "Chubby" McDonald? He's got a light blue and white '55 Chevy, that's "almost" as fast as my car. LOL We've been battling it out on the strip for years. He's a really good guy.

BTW, you have a very nice looking '69.

No, don't know Jim. Next time you talk to him, can you ask him if he goes to the periodic cruise-in in Bunker Hill?
