My name is Chris, I have a 91 Camaro RS. It's not much now, but it does run. I'm looking for some tech info if anyone can help, electrical issues. Currently has a V-6 in it. I'm building a modifyed 350. How do I upgrade the computer module to accomadate a V-8? Other than that I've been working on suspension upgrades, interior, and exhaust. I haven't done anything body wise. I guess I didn't want to draw attention to my ride until it was ready to be shown off.

Hey Chris and welcome.

From what I have heard, you cannot modify a V6 computer for a V8. Only thing you can do is to uy a used comp off of ebay or somehwere. Of course..you could always get rid of the computer and just go with a carburated set-up..

Hey thanks Travis. I do plan on making it carburated, duel carb actually, polished elderbrock air-gap intake and twin elderbrock 500 cfm carbs. I know I have to bypass around the computer eliminating the fuel injection, but not sure how to keep the check engine lights and other sensors from bogging up the car.

psss.. sensors..you don't need sensors... haha.. seriously though try to find a comp out of a junked carbed 'Maro... even then you will have to have it tweaked at a shop that has computer tuning capabilities

Thanks for the info guys. Little more info. I can't call the engine LT or LS. I took the block out of a 70 camaro cause the cylinder walls are thicker from 74 and below. Bored it out .60 over, reason for the thicker walls so it don't have as much overheating problems. 3.75 forged crank, 6.00" manley rods, 2.02 intake 1.88 exhaust valves, 236/246 @.50 duration comp cam with .586 lift, and I listed before elderbock 500 carbs. Pistons are Keith Black 9.5:1 simply because I plan on putting a procharger supercharger on it.

Welcome, it was nice to meet you at the show the other day. Glad you decided to join.

There is alot of tech articles on thirdgen.org about v6 to v8 swaps and EFI to carb swaps.
