Hi fellas, I'm new to the club. I recently moved to the east coast. I've been on the west coast for the last eleven years (CA). My Camaro is an 80 Z with a 406 and a Tremec TKO trans. I do go to car shows but really am a drag racer. I sent in a picture. Check it out. You don't see many 80 Z's running around and I like that. I see some of you guys are from MD. Do any of you guys race at Mason Dixon?

i posted a while back but of coarse you are new so you didnt see when i did it....but anyways a group of us are gonna go up there and its the first friday night test and tune. i like them because there are more kids my age with their imports and so you have a better chance of beating a couple people. i havent yet let the guys know but we will be meeting at the sheets just down the road at 4 pm. it would be great if you could come out.

Yeah, that would be cool. I'll have to see about getting out of work early. I also need to put a battery shut off on the back of the car. I have the battery in the trunk and they said something about it last time I went. Well actually that was Maple Grove. I might be able to get away with it there for a night. I'll let you know. By the way, my name is Darren

Darren,
Welcome to the club. That is one mean looking 1980 Z! Is the paint as good as it looks in the picture? Who painted it?
I bought a '79 Z new, but sold it several years later. Lady who bought from me had it less than a week before she totaled it. Anyway, I have a soft spot in my heart for that body style.

Joel, I weather permitting, I'm planning on going. I got a few things to do to the car but I should be ready. Are there alot of guys from the club going? I've got a cousin with a 2000 or 02 factory supercharged Cobra Mustang with some work done to it. He thinks it's pretty bad and you know the rest. I'm trying to get him to go. It's grudge night right? LOL.

As far as a Sunday picnic, I'll have to see where it is. I'm on standby for my work this weekend. I'll email again later today or Saturday.

Thanks John for the compliments. I'll take anything I can get. You don't find alot of admiration for the 77-81 Camaros. I know the performance was probably at it's all time worst but they did some cool body stuff that they haven't done since. I like to be different. Your car is bad ass (of course). 69's rock! There is a 69 in our family that we are all fighting over. My brother-in-law has claims on it but does nothing with it. It's rotting away but he's going to fix it up someday. How many times have you heard that?!

Anyway, that paint on my camaro, well it depends on who you are. To me, it's good driver paint. It's PPG base and clear. It looks good but it's no high dollar show job. I've always said I'm way more go then show. My wife and I did the body work and my friend painted it.

Unfortunately my brother is unable to represent the mustang due to a bad barometric pressure sensor on his car, But he is probably gonna roll up in the military truck.lol.

Joel,
I'll be there on Friday. I'm gonna play dumb about the battery switch. I ordered a new spacer plate and rear shocks. The shocks will be here Thursday. I already put on the spacer plate. It's one of those HVH Super Suckers. I'm gonna adjust my valves tonight. I got one of those spacers on my 502 in my Vega and I noticed a difference so I'm trying it on the Camaro. My Vega runs 9.50's at 144. It's a rush! Get back to me and let me know where amd what time you guys are meeting.
Thanks, Darren
